About us

Alpha Gamma Omicron Omega

The origin story of Alpha Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® begins with Naomi Oglesby, Rochelle Prestage, and Kimberly Webb-Horsley recognizing the need for an additional Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® chapter in the Metropolitan Detroit area. After noting demographic shifts and unmet community needs, they selected Farmington Hills, Michigan and began the process of chartering a chapter in the fall of 2022. Guided by thoughtful research, community outreach, and the support of regional leadership, the visionaries formed the Sisters Soaring Together (SST) interest group and invited Cynthia Rogers. SST flourished into a collective of forty-six dedicated members and officially applied for recognition as an interest group in September 2023. Approval was granted in November 2023, setting the stage for service and sisterhood in the local area.

Drawing inspiration from Alpha Kappa Alpha’s national and regional themes, they named their interest group Sisters Soaring Together (SST).

After being recognized as “An Official Interest Group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®,” SST launched service initiatives including family adoptions, donations to the Oakland County Foster Closet, tutoring, and voter education. These efforts established strong community ties and prepared the group for chapter status. On December 15, 2024, Alpha Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter was officially chartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The inaugural celebration was held at The Meridian, and the first chapter meeting followed on January 21, 2025.

Since its chartering, Alpha Gamma Omicron Omega has remained committed to its mission of service, scholarship, and sisterhood. The chapter engages in signature programs such as tutoring, health awareness, social justice advocacy, and sustainability efforts. Built on the foundation of uplifting the community, Alpha Gamma Omicron Omega continues to make a meaningful impact in Farmington Hills and beyond.
